Personality:  A sneaky cat with a sly disposition. Ebonwhisper Always looks as if he knows what's going on, as if he knows things other's don't. He's calm and collected, rarely losing his cool. He's always wearing a sly smile. He adores sinking into the shadows and lurking, lying in wait for prey whether it be food or other cats. He is snarky, always having a witty remark to throw. He keeps himself distanced from others, often watching clanmates from a short distance or even in the shadows. Ebonwhisper is far kinder to his clanmates than other cats. He looks at other clan cats the way a predator would it's prey, always looking for their flaws and weaknesses. He does not care if they see him looking. If they stay on his good side, they have nothing to fear. He enjoys his role as a spy. He loves getting all the dirt on everyone.

While Ebonwhisper may come off as invasive and rude, he is absolutely capable of being kindhearted and merciful. He will not show rudeness to kits, and even enjoys their company somewhat. He does not go after apprentices in battle unless they strike him first. He prefers the bigger fish, one's that will put up the bigger fight. Even in the heat of battle, he snarks at his enemy and keeps a crooked, malicious grin on.
History:

Pre Birth:
Ebonwhisper's parents were Stormpelt and Silverwhisker. Stormpelt, his mother, was an average warrior. As was his father, Silverwhisker. The two had grown close as apprentices, their companionship washing away the loneliness their shyness gave them.  Stormpelt confessed her feelings to Silverwhisker one anxiety filled night, almost running away from the fear of rejection. She was so relieved to hear his quiet acceptance of her love. They stayed together that night, basking in their feelings for eachother.

Kithood: Soon after, the two had kits. Well, just one. Ebonkit. They were so happy. They loved their son. However, their hearts broke upon realizing that Ebonkit would not be able to stay in the clan. Their first child, doomed to live most of his life in another clan without them. Regardless of the circumstances, they loved him. Ebonkit was a happy kitten, smothered in the love and attention of  his parents. He always walked with them around camp as they did their duties. When he couldn't be with them, he played with the other kits. He was gentle with them, almost afraid to hurt them. Whenever he did accidentally hurt another kitten, he'd cry along with them.

Ebonkit was heartbroken to leave his parents. They had prepared him for this day, but it still hit him like a falling tree. After a long, heartfelt goodbye to Stormpelt and Silverwhisker, Ebonkit was taken to Shadowclan to train as an apprentice. He held in his sorrows as he entered their camp. It was so dark, nothing like what he was used too. He didn't know anybody at all, and there was nobody to run to for comfort. He was bursting with anxiety, and nearlly broke when the leader asked to see him. Did he do something wrong already? Did the leader not like him? Fortunately none of that was the case. An odd question and an odd test with a beetle is what he got. He wasn't sure what any of this meant. The beetle puzzle was sort of fun, though.  It helped him ease into his new life.

Apprentice: Ebonpaw adapted to life as an apprentice in Shadowclan pretty quickly. He was eager to learn from his mentor, Blacksong. They bonded over their similar names, ebon meaning black. She adored her apprentice, he was sweet and so excited to learn from her. His eagerness made his training much easier for the two. Blacksong taught him to dance with the shadows and to meld with them, almost like becoming one with the darkness. Ebonpaw enjoyed these abilities, especially hiding away in the darkness. He felt at peace, in the shadows. Some cats feared the dark. Ebonpaw lived in it. He enjoyed it's privacy, it's quiet, calming nature.

It was not long until Ebonpaw met his first rival. A she-cat by the name of Murkpaw. Murkpaw didn't like Ebonpaw. She thought he was too happy. Ebonpaw thought she was too gloomy and negative. The two often argued and had to be broken up by their mentors. Murkpaw and Ebonpaw had no choice but to train together though, as Blacksong and Murkpaw's mentor, Coldwhisper, were best friends.

Ebonpaw was a much better hunter than Murkpaw. He always made sure to bring two pieces of fresh-kill back to camp. Murkpaw was lucky to catch one victim on a single hunting trip. She strove to become better, not wanting Ebonpaw to be better than her. Murkpaw was a better fighter however, and almost always beat Ebonpaw in spars. Ebonpaw wasn't too sour about this, but he hated how she was so smug about her victories. The two drove eachother to train hard, determined to best eachother.

Their rivalry reached a fever-pitch one hunting session when Murkpaw encountered a snake. She fought, luckily not getting bit. Ebonpaw heard the fight and quickly rushed to help her. The battle was over in a second. The snake sprung for Murkpaw with what would have been a venomous, life ending blow. Ebonpaw lunged forward and caught the snake in his jaws, the snake's fangs barely an inch away from the target. He swiftly killed the snake and looked back at Murkpaw.

She was shocked, not expecting help. She looked at Ebonpaw and scowled, saying he should mind his own business. He retorted, saying he just saved her life. She hissed, saying she had it under control. Ebonpaw scoffed, saying she had it under control if an early death is what she was looking for. Murkpaw promptly slapped him, claws out. She wasn't going to admit that she was thankful for his help.

Just as Ebonpaw was about to retaliate, Coldwhisper and Blacksong found them. They saw the snake and asked if they were okay. Ebonpaw said they were fine, they caught a snake together. Murkpaw just huffed. The apprentices were praised, and they brought the snake, as well as any other prey they caught back to camp. From then on, the two had it out for eachother. Their spars were more intense, and the hunting was more competitive.

Soon it was time for them to become warriors, and Ebonpaw was tasked with a special mission. He was to spy on the border and report back with what he saw to the leader. He eagerly accepted the task, confident he could do well. He left camp, slipping into  the shadows and heading for the border. He chose to  lurk near the Thunderclan border, watching quietly for anything of interest.

It wasn't anything exciting, He saw an enthusiastic apprentice on the chase with a squirrel dart over the border, then stop short as he realized where he was. Luckily his mentor had arrived shortly after to scold him for being reckless and not paying attention, and they were off. Regardless, Ebonpaw brought his findings back to the leader.

The leader, pleased with his work, gave him a new rank. He was surprised. He'd never heard off a spy before. Nobody would know what he was. He was just an average warrior to them. Ebonpaw eagerly accepted his new rank, and the next day, Murkpaw and Ebonpaw had their warrior ceremonies.

Ebonpaw became Ebonwhisper, And Murkpaw became Murkwhisker.

Spy: Ebonwhisper does his job with pride. He may makes sure to report back to the leader every day with information if possible. He sometimes wishes something more interesting would happen at the borders, but doesn't instigate fights. He still has his rivalry with Murkwhisker, but they've managed to form an uneasy peace between them now that they're warriors.

Roleplay sample: Ebonwhisper lurked in the shadows of the forest. Slinking through the woods, he searched for suitable prey. Light paws met with soft grass as he soundlessly passed through. Soon, he had a target in his sights. A rat. A plump one, from the looks of it. Melting into the shadows he called home, he slithered closer to the unsuspecting rat. As soon as he was in range, his misty figure sprung from the darkness to dig his claws into the rodent and snapping it's neck with his jaws. It was all over in an instant for the poor thing.

Ebonwhisper held the rat in his jaws and smirked. He felt so satisfied with himself. He pranced back to camp all giddy and happy. Though of course, once he reached the camp, he's stop bouncing and regain his usual, sneaky demeanor.
